Whatnot

Just trust me on this one.

As most of you with a skosh of social media awareness know by now, livestream shopping has become quite THE thing. Every Becky with a sewing machine is setting up a tripod and a ring light in her spare bedroom and connecting with thousands of viewers online, from all parts of the globe, to fashion her wares of hand-sewn doilies.

Well, my fond readers, it is apparent to me that this blog has heard nary a cough from me for the past two months (v sry luv u mean it) because apart from the holiday rush, I have found myself immersed in this kinetic world of livestream shopping...not merely as a customer...but as...a seller!

To be honest, this is something I never saw coming. I am very much a behind-the-scenes, behind-the-camera type. I'm still the person who carries stamps with her everywhere she goes because "You just never know."

However, along my journey through this forward-looking cyber sales experience, something kind of wonderful, and dare I say "organic," happened: I made real friends.

Think of it like: if your neighborhood's typical Saturday farmer's market were done digitally. You see and know a lot of the same people each week, and with each visit to the market you learn a little bit more about Joanne with the tomatoes. It’s the same with the streaming community!

Yes, there are many platforms for streaming out there, but one so far has stood out to me in a very positive, very attractive way–and that is the Whatnot app.

Whatnot is a livestream sales (and live auctions) app that features the sale of collectibles and niche items; all of the categories us nerds like. From comic books to baseball cards, vintage & antique goods, all things Pokémon, and my favorite category: crystals & minerals (including 100-million-year-old amazing specimens).

I have genuinely met a community of regular app-goers on there that I love! We gather to nerd out about things we love, and even support each other’s sales streams. Very genuine kumbaya vibes. In addition to that, I’ve also made a ton of sales! Who knew?! I encourage you guys to download the Whatnot app, make a profile, and start checking out some live shows. It’s way too fun. And you will be surprised to meet a community of awesome people with sincere and awesome vibes. (Plus you can score some MEGA sales deals on stuff that is normally not discounted in traditional retail spaces.)
